Kim Martinez

 Founder and Director Kim Martinez is a certified early childhood and elementary teacher with 28 years experience in education. A mother of three and passionate about dual language education, she founded and continues to direct the highly successful Conmigo Spanish Program in the Heights. She recently left her teaching position at Poe-Cooperative Nursery School near Houston’s Museum District to grow the Conmigo program.  Kim and her family spend summers in Mexico, immersing themselves in the rich Mexican culture, food, and language. She brings to the camp creativity, enthusiasm for all things Latin, attention to detail, and an amazing ability to multi-task. 

Yosmary Pastran

 

 

 

 

Yosmary Pastran comes with a wealth of experience working with children of all ages, both in her home country of Venezuela as well as here in the Houston area. Yosmary has an Associate degree in Pre School Education from Instituto Universitario AVEPANE, Caracas, Venezuela. Her teaching style is energetic and engaging and we are thrilled to have her join the Conmigo team.  She is the proud mother of 6 year old Isabella and in her free time, enjoys the beach and creating photo memory books. Yosmary is currently teaching many of our weekly classes and serving as assistant director of curriculum and program planning.

Karen Hatch

 In her Zumba classes, teacher Karla Leal feels the music deep inside her heart and then transmits that energy to her students. Originally from Venezuela, Karla came to Houston for her MBA from the University of St. Thomas in 2007. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages. In addition to teaching Zumba, she runs an online swimsuit company that features adorable mommy/daughter sets. http://www.foxmoreandjuliette.com/ Karla loves to spend time outdoors at the park, beach and zoo with her two-year-old daughter.

 

Karen Hatch is a certified Zumba instructor and founder of Z – Bellybolli. She has 36 years experience of exploring dance and combining it with fitness, and her delight for the music she choreographs and dances is contagious. She honed her skills, style and Spanish while living in several Spanish-speaking countries. Karen currently teaches Zumba & Z - Bellybolli classes at Studio Nia Moves and the Harriet Foster YMCA. During our summer camp, she introduces popular Latin dances though ZUMBA! Cha Cha Cha!

Eva Felder

 

 

 

Eva Felder brings a wealth of multicultural experience and creative energy to Conmigo camp. Born in Transylvania, Romania, she lived in Israel and Venezuela as a child, then moved to Texas as an adult. She is a recently retired pre kindergarten teacher from HISD's dual language program at Helms Elementary in the Houston Heights. Eva also teaches at the popular Art Studio on the Boulevard and Mad Hatter Art Camp. Eva will share her enthusiasm for art and Spanish with our campers. In addition to Spanish, Eva speaks Romanian, Hebrew, Yiddish and English. She loves all things international and artistic.

Ines Hernandez

Ines Hernandez was born and raised in Mexico before moving to the U.S. at age of 24. She is raising her own children in a Spanish-speaking home. Ines says her greatest satisfaction is being able to serve people a delicious meal that they won’t soon forget. We are fortunate that Ines has been in the kitchen with us the past four summers where she shares her love for cooking and Spanish language skills with the children of Conmigo Camp.  

Pamela Merhan

Pamela Merhan was born in Houston, but her heart and family are all from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Growing up, she lived in Venezuela and Argentina where she learned to speak Spanish as her first language. Pamela completed her studies in Houston, receiving a bachelors degree in Psychology and a masters degree in Social Work. She worked as a child psychotherapist for over six years, and now enjoys caring for her son, Lucas and daughter Alexandria.
